Karkat kicks Sollux out of their shared place for the night and Sollux ends up wandering around the next town over, and bumps into a tall painted man who takes him away to somewhere wonderful. Homestuck/Apocalypse AU. On an Alternia inhabited by trolls and humans, it was prophesied years ago that when the birth of the Son of the Messiah came to be, the world had only five sweeps remaining until the end. A baby boy is found on the steps of the MatriChurch, and is given the name Karkat Vantas--while a necklace of the Signless is found around his neck. The sign of the Messiah. Hidden away by his surrogate mother-sister Kanaya and her fellow Sisters, it is hoped that the prophecy won't come true--but when meteors are sighted on his fourteenth birthday, and demons and angels come a-knocking, the end seems to be coming, and there are two fates ahead of Karkat: kidnapped by the demons, who use his power to burn the world, or kidnapped by the angels, who use his power to 'cleanse' the world. As a last ditch effort, Kanaya elicits the Seer of Light's help, whose cousin is the Knight of Time--a Knight who will be paid handsomely if he can safely escort Karkat to the mysterious Altar of Blood on the other side of the planet, perhaps the only possible third option that will stop The End. The only problem? It's looking like Dave's falling for the New Messiah, whose blood will be spilled regardless of the option they choose.

Summary
In this particular city, strangeness is normalcy. Amongst the characters that highlight the place are a pessimistic soothsayer, an enthusiastic mortician, and a doctor who has all too many secrets. That, however, is the least of their problems. After the death of David Strider, a much-beloved palace guard, brings together the odd little community, a string of horrific murders begins systematically dismantling the trust, whilst in some cases it yet goes unnoticed. In the midst, Jonathan becomes fascinated with life outside his comfortable estate, and ends up right in the middle of The Ripper's path.
