So, instead of Khan killing Admiral Marcus and basically going off the deep-end, let's suppose Dr. McCoy, in the interim between catching Khan and needing his help, had invented a way to basically shut off the gene enhancements that made him physically superhuman? So, instead of getting the better of Kirk and company, they get the better of him. But at Khan's trial, Kirk stands up for him and asks that as part of his rehabilitation, he join the Enterprise crew on their five-year mission. After all, he's a mere human now, so what could he possibly get up to?

John Harrison sat on his new bed, in his new flat, in the middle of the same old London that was no longer quite so old. A glossy computer terminal sat on the desk in the corner, and his Fleet-issued communicator was next to the digital alarm clock on his bedside table. He stared at them for a long minute. He'd been in this century barely ten weeks, and he'd adjusted well, but in the quiet moments the pace of modern humanity threatened to overwhelm him.
He was crushingly lonely.
Except he wasn't truly alone, was he? Paul was downstairs in the kitchen, making tea and heating up dinner for the both of them.

(Don't ask, but at least they are trapped together.) What do their friends and family (and I use the term loosely) really think of their relationship? Also, can our favorite couple survive three weeks of medical captivity with no sex? Actually, can they survive at all? Because things are not quite what they seem.
