Summary
A look at what could have happened if things didn't go so smoothly with the USTA colonization efforts at Aeos. After the crash the Eldarian forces are sent for to rescue the crew, but just a little too late. On the outside they seem to genuinely want to help, but soon suspicions about the Eldarian's motives begin to take rise. What's worse, the SRF officials seem less than concerned. Meanwhile, a strange relationship begins to bloom between caretaker and charge out of a seed of governmental corruption and secrets at the top of the ladder.
Eventual Edge/Faize. Really a focus on the group and dealing with intergalactic politics when you have no control over your own fate. And, as always, R&R.

Summary
For the genetically engineered core of Eldarian society, the last year of a young man or woman's education is spent in partnership with a mentor, who teaches the cadet the skills necessary for success in a profession -- and takes responsibility for educating the cadet in other aspects of adult behavior, as well. This year, the Hive in its proverbial wisdom has assigned one of the rising cadets, Faize, to be mentored by Arumat, the captain of the Thirteenth Independent Armored Division. The Thirteenth has a reputation for being dangerous, even savage, but Faize is determined to prove himself.

Sparring with Arumat was already pretty hot -- he's got some nice moves, and he doesn't hold back, makes Crowe really work for it. Knowing that this time it is foreplay instead of just feeling that way only makes it better.
