Summary
Jim is heading towards a personal crisis. Their mission is vitally important: to find a new home world for the Vulcan race in the face of alien opposition. Soon it is clear that there is only one planet that will do. To secure the mysterious planet Jim must play his hand perfectly, but guilt at not having been able to save Vulcan and the responsibilities of captaining the Enterprise are wearing him down. Determined to be professional, he forces loneliness upon himself until a kiss he shares with his first officer changes everything.

Or the urge, so very strong, to let Roxas know each and every detail of his life. Never trust pirates, they said, but Roxas did. He did and it hurt Axel in ways he didn't know possible that when the time came, he might not be able to stop Larxene or one of the others from slitting his throat. jade/vriska, as something of a strange uneven mix of ♥ and ♠, IN SPACE. one of them is a cop and one of them is a pirate of sorts and they are both firm believers in the philosophy that the best things in life do not come without a little trouble. sometimes the best things are trouble and nothing but! and that is ok.
