Summary
He went through the motions that day. Work, dinner and cake with Mrs. Hudson, pub with Lestrade, then back home again to the empty flat. Everything was empty. He was doing what he was supposed to be doing. He smiled when he was supposed to smile and allowed himself to break down only in the lonely darkness at night. His therapist told him this wasn't healthy. He told her she couldn't even cure a psychosomatic limp. Then he fired her.
His whole life felt as though he were on the precipice of something great, but then Sherlock had fallen, and now John was left teetering on the edge and fearing the darkness. He switched on the telly and sat back against the cushions. This was the life he was supposed to lead. It was all fine. A tap at the door, and he groaned. Surely Mrs. Hudson was in bed for the night, or at least occupied with her herbal soothers. He struggled to his feet, hand grasping for his cane.
The man outside was thinner, and a long scar marred his left cheek, but he was also unmistakably, undeniably familiar. He looked ashamed. John felt his whole being surge. He was finally vindicated. Still, he remained silent.
"John." The voice was rough. It held pain, but also salvation. "Happy birthday."

Summary
Sherlock and John meet as potential flatmates, just in time for John to get a more attractive offer as a partner in Irene Adler's business. This calls for discretion, so he reluctantly refuses Sherlock's offer to share a flat, but he can't quite get Sherlock Holmes out of his mind.
A series of suicides provides Sherlock with a much-needed distraction. A dead cabbie gives Sherlock the next clue in the game: the name Moriarty. And when John Watson comes back into the game, Sherlock can't help but wonder where to draw the line between coincidence and fact.

Summary
It’s the fall of 2000, and to help him out after his military career has ended due to injury, John Watson’s sister Harriet gets him a job as US tour manager for rising star of the industrial scene and enfant terrible, Sherlock Holmes. Sherlock’s not long out of rehab and there are plenty of doubts as to whether he’s serious about recovery. Plus, the music industry is shaking in its boots over the Napster mess. All John has to do is keep the money coming in and make sure his star doesn't screw things up. After the army, that should be easy, right?

My attempt at writing short stories in the 221-B format (221 words, last word starting with B). I'm really enjoying writing and I think these will encourage me to to do it more often and present an interesting challenge. There will be pre-slash, established relationships, some attempts at cases, lots of fluff, some angst, etc.
(at some point, the word count on this got slightly off - not sure what's happened but I assure you I use the word count utilities in my word processing software and manually count each one, and they are all 221 words long)
