John is unhappy, even though Harry's friends encouraged it, and chases Harry to Hogwarts, because that isn't an overreaction at all, what are you talking about? Upon arrival, however, he gets turned into an eighteen year old by a frightened, trigger-happy student, and Harry learns that the iron control he knows Marcone by didn't appear until much later in his life.
