Summary
Sequel to "Second Chances". Things would be a lot better if the world would leave them alone, but what little peace they had is about to be ruined. They've barely gotten past the tragedy of Sherlock, for god's sakes, and now they have to deal with someone who Sebastian would've been happy to see remain dead in Middle-Earth: Azog. Worse, the former orc seems quite content to declare war on Sebastian, again. Worse YET, he's got his sights set on the one who denied him Thorin's head: one former Bilbo Baggins, now John Watson. Even Gandalf's meddling may not be enough to keep fate from repeating.
That's fine. If Azog wants a war, well, Sebastian's more than willing to give him one. Especially when it comes to keeping his nephews and the man he loves safe.

Based on the oneshot "A Lesson in Humility" that I published on here a few months ago. Britain is still going strong in the 21st century, its prosperity and indomitable economy kept afloat by government-decreed slavery. Millions of slaves work in the UK while the commonwealth remains blissfully unaware. When three slaves, Molly, Sebastian, and John unite, they begin pushing for the uncovering and freeing of the slave force, even if it means the crumbling of the United Kingdom.

Sebastian Moran can't pull the trigger on John Watson to save his own hide, and what the hell is it with the doctor, anyway? Then Gandalf shows up, meddlesome wizard, and reminds him none too gently of his past life: as Thorin Oakenshield, leader of a company that had once included a small hobbit named Bilbo Baggins. One that looked decidedly like John Watson. And this would be the perfect chance to make things right with Bilbo the way he really hadn't been able to before he died, and that's when Gandalf tells him John doesn't remember being Bilbo, and to leave him alone.

Written for this prompt at the kink meme (with a few slight changes):
Bilbo Baggins was reborn as John Watson, and remembered who he was just before he was invalided home to join up with Sherlock Holmes, possibly due to the wound that got him invalided home (whole life flashing before his eyes, only it isn't the right life?).Sherlock Holmes is either Smaug or Sauron, and he has no idea who he used to be.
Where this whole thing hits a snag, however, is that Thorin Oakensheld was reborn as Sebastian Moran, and he remembers everything too.
He's never met John Watson face to face, and so doesn't know that the man he's been contracted to kill was once the love of his life. Then the two of them meet and everything changes.
