And then one day his father tells him that it is time to do his duty as a prince. A peace treaty has been drawn up with the land of shadows, and Jack is to be an integral part of that.

After being away for a year long mission to prove his dedication to the young prince, Pitch has finally returned. However instead of the warm homecoming he expected he is forced to watch as his lover is taken by the Nightmares while defending the village children. Now Pitch must once again leave his home to go out into the wilds and find Jack and free him from the spell the Nightmares have placed on him. To help him he'll have a a flighty Fairy Godmother, a strange silent golden man, a violent toymaker and a judgmental woodsman. He does not have high hopes in succeeding but he'll be damned if they won't try.
Jack meanwhile must try to gather proof of Wonder, Hope, Joy and Faith while helping Pitch when he can. They only have twelve full moons before the spell is complete and Jack fades entirely. Will they make it?

They saved their towns from something and now it's their turn to just enjoy life. Jack Frost wants a second chance at living. Although he's still a Guardian he wants to enjoy himself, especially since he finds himself falling for a certain male who keeps him smiling. His best friend Punzie doesn't know how to help him other than do what she's always been doing, get him to admit his feelings. Although it's fun and games now a new evil comes out to play and Jack knows he'll need his friends help this time. He just hopes they won't leave him like everyone else does.

Jamie's been obsessed with folk tales, cyrptozoology and myths since he was four. Meeting the guardians and the boogy man all in one night didn't make normal any more appealing. He's always been smart though, and there's got to be a career out there where frank discussions of magic and belief don't count against you, and he's going to college to find it.
--Jack's smart enough to know something's wrong, and he's hoping Jamie's smart enough to help him figure it out.
When the first child tottered into the dark and never came back, the other children were told not to do that. when the second child did it, the parents got more creative.
