Summary
“I don’t know if an explanation is needed,” Seth says, hating how cold he sounds but not knowing how to melt the ice in his throat, on the tips of his fingers.
“No, it is needed, but maybe not…not over the phone.” Ryan pauses, then says quickly, “I’m coming home.”
Seth doesn’t know where Ryan is coming from, or what he will bring with him other than memories and a chill. Freezer burn.
“Well,” Seth sighs, “you’ve always known where to find me.”

Summary
It’s not that things taste better or smell better when Ryan’s around (even though they do), or that Seth didn’t know he was capable of shaking from anything other than caffeine or orgasm before he met him, or because he knows more about himself now and absolutely nothing about Ryan. It’s not about any of these things, but it’s not not about them, either. If there’s one single solitary thing Seth has learned from Ryan Atwood it’s that there’s hard-hearted and hard-assed and most of the time we become both because we’re afraid of being close to someone and even more afraid of being alone.

Summary
Ryan takes out his engineering textbook and opens it to the chapter he’s supposed to be reading, but everything blurs together into a sea of numbers and letters, a dense soup of incomprehensibility. He can sense Seth lying on his bed, listening to his iPod and making gestures in the air with his hands, and he can’t concentrate on anything else.
He wishes Seth wasn’t quite so much like that, so…Seth Cohen-y.
He wishes he didn’t want him quite so much.

Summary
“You’re kind of quiet,” Ryan says, flicking on the signal and turning onto a street Seth doesn’t recognize. “That’s very not Seth Cohen of you.”
“I’m being you today,” Seth shoots back, and Ryan laughs.
“Does that mean I get to be you?” Ryan asks.
“If you want to be,” Seth says. “But I can’t imagine why you would want to be me when – “
…when you could be you.
