Sherlock Holmes is retired but not gone. When an old enemy seeks vengeance, Holmes and Watson must travel back to London to stop the villain before their lives are destroyed. (Holmes/Watson)

Bertie Wooster loves detective stories, but he never imagined that he'd be in one, and if he had, he would not have imagined that he would be the bait in a villainous plot. (Jooster)

Bertie goes to a rather rummy sort of club, the last place one would expect to find one's brilliant valet. What follows is more rummy stuff, lots of drinking, much too much smoking, and some other unmentionable things.

    Summary

Reginald Jeeves was a man who wanted things he was never meant to have; luxury, security, influence, control over his own life. Because he was brilliant and subtle, he expected to find a way to gain them despite his social status. In meeting Bertie Wooster, he thought he'd found everything he wanted. He never expected to lose his heart in the process.

    Bookmarker's Notes

Weirdly, this is exactly what Jeeves's voice would be if the narrative took a sharp turn. Unnervingly good.

They decriminalized it today, Jeeves—not that you don’t know that already. I know the dead aren’t supposed to have a jot of knowledge about the world below, but I can’t imagine that goes for you: in fine print of every King James, I’ve no doubt, if closely examined, it says “except for Jeeves.”

'“Good evening, Mr Wallace.” Came Jeeves’ cordial and very correct reply. I rather expected that to be the end of it, and I was hoping it too. I didn’t fancy appearing from a tree with Wallace hanging about. It engenders too many questions. “What were you doing up that tree?” being one of them.'

For once it is Bertie who is in the know when it comes to a delicate tidbit of personal information. Now he perfectly understands the phrase 'ignorance is bliss'...

Bertie Wooster and his man Jeeves have developed a close and loving relationship. Sometimes they invite others in to share their enjoyment.
Will continue as long as Bertie can bear it; I invite you to work out which actors that I have crushes on I'm mentally casting as each of the guests.
These are not the Fry and Laurie versions of the characters, but if you would enjoy imagining them that way despite the differences in description, I give you my blessing. I do draw somewhat on the TV series canon as well as on the original stories (the song 'Forty-Seven Ginger-Headed Sailors' has its rights).

The morning unfairly showed no early warning signs of disaster. The sun was simply pouring enthusiastically into the room, rather overdoing it in my opinion. The consequences of an evening sprung off by Foggy Moreland are not lightly shrugged away, he said with a hollow laugh.
