Hands down, my favorite fic in the Jeeves and Wooster fandom, and one of my favorite fics period.

The fic keeps the Whodehousian language and the idiosyncrasies of its characters, without devolving into a parody. There are a couple side-plots that could've been cliche and pointless but ended up moving and beautiful. I thought the progression of the relationship felt realistic, as did the motivations and actions of the characters. Really, an amazing story. Go read.

While I do enjoy tickling the ivories for hours at a time, and have occasionally fancied that a bit of tricky finger-work was carried out so adeptly as to bring the house down, this was in the way of being a metaphor.

Sherlock Holmes is retired but not gone. When an old enemy seeks vengeance, Holmes and Watson must travel back to London to stop the villain before their lives are destroyed. (Holmes/Watson)

Bertie Wooster loves detective stories, but he never imagined that he'd be in one, and if he had, he would not have imagined that he would be the bait in a villainous plot. (Jooster)

Bertie goes to a rather rummy sort of club, the last place one would expect to find one's brilliant valet. What follows is more rummy stuff, lots of drinking, much too much smoking, and some other unmentionable things.

The morning unfairly showed no early warning signs of disaster. The sun was simply pouring enthusiastically into the room, rather overdoing it in my opinion. The consequences of an evening sprung off by Foggy Moreland are not lightly shrugged away, he said with a hollow laugh.
