It only lasts a few seconds and he shrugs it off, he was late and had to run to the room, the heating’s turned up high in the room, it’s no surprise he’s feeling a bit warm. But then it happens again, and again, and half an hour later Mikey’s body is covered in a thin layer of sweat that’s got nothing to do with exercise or the temperature.

Their lives now are always somewhere on the seven stages of grief, and each day is another step, forwards or back.
They died, but didn't, and you always need some time to pick up the pieces after a death.
This was originally intended to be a longer fic, but while it cuts off rather abruptly at the end, it's not a completely bizarre place to end it.
