Summary
John Watson comes from a long line of Omega activists and political prisoners. Sherlock Holmes is the son and grandson of Alpha autocrats. The two are destined to meet again and again. Secrets are revealed, hearts are broken. Sherlock will have to fight his own family as well as society to protect his only true love. Change is coming and the old ways will be challenged. Alpha Mycroft is in love with another Alpha, a taboo to society but he wont allow his love to be parted from him. The bonds of family will be put to the test, Mycroft finds an ally in the most unlikely of places within his own family, the two together will be a force to reckon with, especially when what's theirs is in danger.

Summary
Every big city has its share of organized crime. This city is no different, having a long-term association with the Hale family crime organization. The problem for this particular city, however, is that the crime has been getting steadily worse each year. In part due to Peter Hale's leadership, which is ruthless and cunning, and in part because of his highly effective nephew Derek Hale who has taken on the mantle of his family upon his parents' deaths.
Nobody has been able to infiltrate the Hale family using conventional covers. A guy couldn't just hang around one of their bars until he looked familiar enough to one of their goons to start asking about some action. They were too good for that. Way too good for that.
And someone has to take them down.
But there was only one route left. A difficult route. A new face that none of the Hale family's informants would know. And a young enough face to fit the profile of the sort of boy Derek Hale might... recruit.

Raheed is bhanak, a "slave soldier" who was bought, educated, and trained by the Mulli empire to pillage and conquer surrounding nations. When stationed in the rural town of Khafa, befriends an odd beggar boy, Asan, who lacks both speech and hearing. Together, Raheed and Asan craft a rudimentary sign language to communicate, at least before Raheed is whisked away to war. After witnessing the death and horror of battle, Raheed returns several years later no longer the carefree boy from before-- but then again, Asan is not left unscarred by his own experiences either.
