Summary
John knows, without a shadow of a doubt, that Sherlock is alive. And that is just going to have to be enough for now. In the meantime, he’ll continue the work. The work was always the important thing.
But when Sherlock returns, he finds it difficult to insinuate himself back into a world that's gone on without him. How has Sherlock and John's relationship changed? Can they re-learn to manoeuvre around one another and the work ? And what happens when a threat more powerful than Moriarty threatens to bring their new life crashing down around them?

The first time it happened was completely by accident.
Post-Reichenbach, John finds a way to hold on to Sherlock after all.
Prepare yourself for 1.) angst 2.) plot 3.) smut 4.) more smut 5.) even more smut 6.) more plot 7.) happy ending. But, in apparently WAY too many chapters. Here's an excerpt, just to give you hope through the angsty first few chapters:
"I am going to seduce you, Sherlock Holmes," he rumbled into Sherlock's ear, smiling as Sherlock's breath grew unsteady again. "Not because you need it, but because you deserve it. We both do." He gave Sherlock a squeeze. "Trust me?"
Sherlock's head lifted, those uncanny pale eyes looking at John with complete sincerity. "I've always trusted you, John."
John felt the last bit of tension leaving his shoulders. "Good." He kissed Sherlock one more time, swift and soft — a promise. "That's good."

If he were alive, if by some miracle he survived the fall, he would need something, someone. Could he have survived? Can a person survive a fall from five stories up? John had read articles of passengers falling from broken planes, landing safely in a bale of hay or a thick layer of snow. No one bounced off pavement.
How often have I said to you that when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth? John hated how piercing that voice was, as if he were sitting right next to him, laying next to him in this bed, propped up on one arm with that look, that look that meant he had everything figured out.
If he were Sherlock, who would he enlist to protect him, to be his willing assistant? If not John, then who? Someone must know where he is. Not Mrs. Hudson, not Lestrade, not Mycroft…
