John is drugged (lowered inhibitions) and it makes him affectionate towards Finch. They end up awkwardly circling each other after that, and Finch helps a group of young hackers with a case. John rides to the rescue, and Finch realizes that yes, this is okay, both of them want this. Sweet.

John shows up at Carter's in the middle of the night just to find out how long the silent treatment lasts. But he did buy her ice-cream to replace what he'd eaten. Gotta love considerate stalkers. (Carter's mom wins the lottery.)

Bookmarker's Notes
Elegant, lovely, a poetic juxtaposition of how two dangerous, broken people are dependent on one another. Fear and tension and UST and curiosity and wonder.
"If you're done planning my murder, I would like to discuss the possibility of lunch," the dry voice interrupts him.

“It’s perfectly logical. We’re bound to be caught at some point together, and as far as I can see there’s no downside to connecting Mr. Warren to Mr. Wren socially. John is being tortured and goes someplace else in his mind. Someplace cold and windy and high up, with a bomb vest strapped to his chest, but the surroundings don't even matter because Harold is there.
Wonderful imagery and a beautiful look at John's head, so much pain but the beauty of it is that he doesn't really feel it.

There's a single revolving door, which Reese passes through; the lobby has inlaid floors and red velvet furniture. In the back, there's a carved concierge desk. Birds fly through Reese's brain, beating their wings.
