    Summary

"Hesitant, Emilia reached up to stroke the brilliant scarlet rose in her hair, wincing slightly as one finger got caught on a sharp thorn. The blood, hidden in the flower's velvet petals, welled up in a thin red line as she placed her finger delicately in her mouth to quell the faint flow of that red tide. There is danger hidden in beauty, she thought suddenly, incongruously, and thorns sharp and cutting ensconced in flowers of love."

The story of Othello and Desdemona is one of passion burning too strong-- of idle thoughts twisting into suspicions wild and imaginations raging with jealousy and fervent desire to be taken at one's chaste word. The story of Emilia and Iago is a quieter tale, of sinister machinations and a shared madness that sinks its thorny claws in deep and drags hapless souls together into a mire that is either love, or insanity, or hatred...or everything of nothing first created.

    Summary

An alternate storytelling of the iconic, romantic, tear-jerking work of Shakespeare, Othello. In this parallel world, the evil ancient, Iago, seeks only for the love of his general, Othello, and does anything, and everything, he can to win the heart of the stubborn Moor. Even if that means removing his lieutenant first. Even if that means having to plot.
    Even if that means murder.

    Summary

"...Why, my dear husband...I am glad to think that in your eyes, I am a woman of more beauty than a goddess. But I pray tell, which goddess might you mean? Lovely Aphrodite?" Emilia flashed a coy smile into the looking glass and silently praised herself, in pleasurable guilt, for the alluring tones she had managed to achieve in her voice. "Ay, you flatter me much."

    Summary

A rewrite of 4.3, the willow song scene.

    Let husbands know
Their wives have sense like them: they see and smell
And have their palates both for sweet and sour,
As husbands have. What is it that they do
When they change us for others? Is it sport?
I think it is: and doth affection breed it?
I think it doth: is't frailty that thus errs?
It is so too: and have not we affections,
Desires for sport, and frailty, as men have?

    Summary

"Four missed calls. The notifications flashed across the phone’s small screen as he picked it up from the couch onto which it had been angrily flung. Cassio, every time. Cassio, the looker, the rake, the right hand. The usurper. Puffed-up, arrogant, self-important wanker--! But. He had called. Four times. Called him four times, and that in itself was anachronistic enough to give him pause. He could see no reason for such desperate seeking of contact. Their work was done: Othello’s farce of a marriage...dealt with; Brabantio powerless and in a right strop. The newlyweds off shagging somewhere before the tour, warming up to the music of groans and bodies joined in unholy communion, playing the swan song to their hideous love in this place, this time, this life. Roderigo gulled, driven to the brink of madness by the twin flames of elation and the passion of his own stupidity, buoyed up on the rising smoke of hopes no more substantial than sparks, bringing destruction in their effervescent glory before fading to nothing ere one could say they lightened. Cassio...well. Cassio, sitting like Patience on a monument, smiling at grief-- his grief. Holding his place. Owning the piece of-- no. That mattered not."

"It was about love. That's what you've gotta understand. Don't talk to me about race. Don't talk to me about politics. It was love. Simple as that."

    Summary

A queer reading of the text 'Othello' can be taken in two ways- firstly, that Othello himself presents very much the type of machoistic man who, at the time of Shakespeare, could potentially be more interested in the company of men. OR, secondly, that Iago's schemes stem from a confused lust and hatred for Othello in equal terms.

This is simply a suggestion based on the latter reading, set as if it were a prequel to the events within the play itself.
