Literary history tells us that in 1882, a young Oscar Wilde took a tour of America as part of a promotion for both himself and the Gilbert and Sullivan operetta Patience (whose central character was based on Wilde). During this trip, Wilde made two trips to Camden, NJ to visit Walt Whitman. No really. This happened.
