The west coast is beautiful and Tony's Malibu mansion is about to become the Avengers' Mansion. Or maybe he'll buy a new one and make that one the Avengers' Mansion. But it doesn't matter, because Maggie isn't supposed to be hearing that. She isn't supposed to hear the soft pounding of the ocean (which she loves so very much), or the quiet gasps that are buried into something, words repeated and cries muffled. She isn't supposed to hear the arguing between Tony and Pepper, way down in the lab, which usually stems from said lab and always has Tony on the defensive for days, prickly and scared.
It doesn't matter that she's not supposed to hear these things.
Because she does anyway.
