A brief fear that maybe they wouldn’t get in contact, which would be assuaged by the letter inviting him to dinner the very next night. And sometime during all of this, there would be the recognition that, yes, this was his other (not to say better) half. So he was taken by surprise when the man put on his pants and started looking around for his shirt.
