Originally a fill posted at norsekink in response to the prompt:
"After the Avengers capture Loki at the end of the movie, they lock him up as a precaution before shipping him off to Asgard. And being the good guys, they decide to give him the chance to bathe and dress in clean clothes instead of sleeping in his own dirty rags.
The problem is, without the whole battle gear and the drawn and mean look, Loki looks surprisingly young, which prompts the Avengers to ask Thor just how old Loki really is. Of course Loki is centuries old, but Thor tells them that in human standard, Loki would still be considered underage!
Cue to horrified Avengers who wants to know exactly what sort of crappy home life Loki must have had to end up like this before even reaching adulthood."

No, it was not for their cruelty or for their blunder. These were no ordinary rats of the sea. Whisper the Avengers and any cake eater will weep and cringe. Lead by their fearless captain the crew would steal from the rich and give to the poor. A merry band of robin hoods upon the hallowed seas. Is there a better way to be known and feared? Luckily, with Thor's help, Supervillain Rescue Mission is a go. Too bad it starts spinning wildly out of control within minutes.

When Tony Stark invited his fellow team mates to take out a floor each in his tower, he was not expecting Steve Rogers to bring home a wet and bedraggled kitten. Or to find Clint Barton regularly on his roof in only a blanket, or to strike up a drinking partnership with Loki because no one else is intelligent enough to keep up with either of them. Somehow he's still surprised when Natasha tries to teach the kitten ninja moves.
He's even more surprised when Steve keeps bringing up old scars. A man so lost in time isn't supposed to remind Tony about all the things he'd rather forget, let alone encourage Tony to fall in love with him.
Tony Stark is pretty sure somewhere Charles Xavier is laughing at him.

All things considered, and mindful of everyone's highly colorful personal history which included (at last count): dimensional travel, mind control, time travel, mental or bodily transformation (voluntary and involuntary), betrayal by family or authority figures, and aliens, it would have stood to reason that the Avengers could figure out any strange thing that happened to them without outside help.
