Summary
Natalie Lambert is the bravest person Nick knows.

Summary
Written for Porn Battle 10, and written as a NNPacker's equivalent of the Unnamed Faction's "missing scenes". Natalie, still somewhat out of it from her night of heavy drinking and overwhelmed from Spark's thwarted attack, is lovingly tended to -- and more -- by Nick. Inspired by a line from the Skeeter Davis song ("Don't they know it's the end of the world?") which served as the title during the Porn Battle, and containing some quotes from the episode A More Permanent Hell. Prompt was: "Nick/Natalie, cold."
She was suddenly very embarrassed and ashamed of herself. She'd begged him to bring her across like some idiot teenager trying to get pregnant to make her boyfriend stay and, when he refused her, got drunk and sought the company of a vampire she didn't know.

"Full of Grace" is an epistolary tale that sweeps across all three seasons before exploding the finale. It builds a richly rounded life for Grace while exposing key canon events from her side and shaping an arc for her relationship with Natalie -- from early misapprehensions, through holding at arm's length, to adopting Natalie's peril as her responsibility. Invoking FK's multiple canonical psychics and shamans, this story cleverly makes Grace a Gullah herb doctor, a twist that both dramatizes lost opportunities and enables a stunning climax.

Summary
On her thirty-first birthday, Natalie dyes her hair for the first time.
"But what could she say if Nick... envied her? Worse, what if this change in her pushed him to notice time passing, to see the day coming when department ribbing about his appetite would turn instead to his youth?"

Janette's whim to take a closer look at Nick's mortal life triggers a miniature comedy of manners when she turns up, unexpected, in Natalie's domain. Character-appropriate banter bobs on the ocean of how much they all have yet to learn about each other at this early canonical point. Interestingly (and unusually for a first-season meeting between Janette and Natalie), "Could They Choose Between" builds its motivations up from Schanke taking refuge at the Raven in "Hunters," rather than from the "Cherry Blossoms" tag.

Summary
The characters organize to protest the working conditions in fanfiction.
"Bad day on the fic list? Let me guess — you spent an entire shift making love to Tracy Vetter for no emotionally established reason in no logically explained manner, and you need an aspirin and a shower?"

Amy's hilarious -- and eye-opening -- take on the FK characters' perception of the fiction we write for them. The relationships between the characters are implied, rather than compelled. And, of course, Fleur is a wonder here as the ensemble's darkhorse -- showing off her brainpower and poise; being Nick's sister, but not being solely defined by him.

Summary
Nick shoved Natalie aside and headed for the door; they were not nearly finished and she'd be damned if she'd let him walk away. Nick falls off the wagon, Nat tries to talk to him, but he's well over the edge, out of control and physically harms her. Set after "Night in Question" and covering the time from then to the end of "Sons of Belial."

Nick's self control slips and he lashes out with his strength, rather than his fangs, against the one he cares for most. A riveting take on the dark side of Nick and Natalie's relationship, and how it could be perceived by those not "in the know". It puts to light what I can never eloquently express no matter how many essays, rants and recaps I write: that their codependency is not at all dissimilar from a relationship between a temperamental alcoholic, and his enabling spouse who blames herself for his shortcomings.
