Summary
Castiel was the quiet type who followed orders and never disobeyed but he's gotten sick of it. He wants to do something of his own. He no longer wants to follow orders and be exactly what his older brother wants him to be. Slowly he starts to change that by trying to regain his free will in a house he hardly calls a home. Rapidly he gets caught up and harmless rebellion starts to go sour.
In the midst of this he befriends Dean Winchester, someone he has known is whole life, though never properly knew. Dean also happens to be in a rock band. -

Now Dean's not saying he's gay, but the thing he has going with Castiel isn't exactly straight either and he isn't even sure if it matters any more. Castiel is a complicated nerd and is stubborn as hell but he is also fun and surprising and beautiful and he can't lie, what they have is electric, but it's just hormones, right? ... Right?

High School AU: Dean Winchester does his best to look out for his little brother Sam, but when Castiel Novak, a new boy at Wayward High School with an abusive father, a reliance on vicodin, and an eating disorder, catches his attention, he struggles to look out for both of them. Meanwhile, Sam has turned to prostitution to support his own drug habit, which he is desperately trying to hide from Dean. His richest client, Lucifer, is developing something of an obsession with him, but he's confused by his sexuality and is fairly certain that the affection isn't mutual.
