This story will deal with an hurt Gerontius Took, thain of the Shire, his angry grandson Bilbo, and a proud dwarven king that needs to "sell out" his family to save his people.
The dwarrows have settled in the Blue Mountains after Smaug stole their kingdom. Although Hobbits are happy folk unfortunate circumstances leave the relationship between these to groups somehow chilled and even slightly hostile. But when the dwarrows - who have really not much clue about growing and harvesting - find themselves nearly starved to death, they are forced to reach out for help.
And the thain of the Shire is willing to grant it, under one condition!
Edit: I have changed the title from "The Price to Pay", because while I know what the Old Took demands mean, it will seem rather harsh for all of you, at least in the beginning. I hope the new title will make it a little clearer. Sorry for the confusion for those who had read the first two chapters and bookmarked the story already.
Edit II: I found myself a beta-reader. Redone takes it up on herself to read over my story and improves it a great deal. Thank you for it. (There, I said it again ;).)
