After the fall of his father Cunoval, Esca is enslaved. All Esca says about that in the book Eagle of the Ninth, is: "They sold me to a trader from the South, who sold me to Beppo, here in Calleva" Yet, that sentence covers two years of Esca's life (in the book, it's seven in the movie). This story explores what happened to Esca and how he ended up in the arena at Calleva where he first met Marcus. Marcus appears very briefly right at the end.

Written as a prompt fill from the_eagle_kink on Livejournal: Some post movie celebratory carousing with our boys enjoying lots of wine and attention. There is much catching each other's eye across the room, Marcus proud that free!Esca holds his own. They go home together, drunk, flop into a pile together on Marcus's bed. Half-asleep drunken groping that turns into more ensues.
It more or less goes like that, though Marcus is a bit more jealous than proud of the attention Esca receives, and somewhere in the middle they have to walk home drunk in the dark. Also, Esca didn't want to be floppy for long. So he isn't. Other than that, I hope the OP likes it.
