In the Terminus Systems, former Alliance marine, Theodore “Theo” Thompson-Ramos leads a team of “security experts” against batarian slaver attacks on human colonies.
And over the horizon the millennial enemy looms, hidden in the dark recesses of the galaxy.

Charlie is a hero. She's cited as the only reason Elysium is still standing, the mold for every soldier to seek to fill. The weight and expectations of the galaxy lay on her, their hopes, fears, loves, hates. She wishes she could save everyone, she wants war to be a thing of the past, and she wants someone to remember that she's only human.
Andrew is a soldier. That's what he tells himself on the nights were he remembers the piles of dead at Torfan. When he puts on his uniform, and the insignia reminds him of the face he must bear for his men and his people. The past haunts him, and he hides behind a curtain of hate. No one can see.
Paxton is the damned. She is the only one to have walked away from Akuze, only alive thanks to her biotics, joined by the faces of those who perished by the thresher maw. She lives in a dark void, where the shrieks and the smell of blood are always close under the surface, and she just wants peace. An end, to what never truly left her ten years ago.
All three of them receive the same call in the year 2183: report to Vancouver for classified assignment on Normandy SR1. Mission details pending.
Follows the plot of the first Mass Effect.
