It was supposed to be "get in, swoop in on prime real estate before the competition gets to it, then get out." Funny how the plan didn’t include Merlin Emrys, a self-proclaimed “psychic” who swore Arthur’s life was in danger the longer he stayed in town.
Not to mention what to do when it turned out Merlin was right.

Summary
Dragons are feared and mistrusted throughout Albion, and there are very few of them left in Camelot, for Uther’s long campaign against magic also included hunting down all the dragons in the wild. Now, Camelot is recovering from the invasion of Cenred and Morgause's army. Prince Arthur is the one in charge, and Merlin finds out that his secret regular visits to the covert haven't been very secret at all. There's a great deal of manly bonding with the Knights, inquisitive dragons being inquisitive, and a record-breaking number of near-death experiences for Merlin. It is 1962, and Pendragon Publishing is looking at how to expand the readership of its fashion magazine 'Camelot'. The decision to bring in newer, younger photographers leads to Arthur Pendragon, the rebellious, innovative heir to the Pendragon empire being admitted back into the fold for one trial photoshoot, but only if he agrees to do things their way. Unfortunately for them, when Arthur claps eyes on Merlin - clumsy, nervous, doesnt-know-how-to-hold-still Merlin - he realises that he has found his Muse and that he will have to fight to keep him, even if it means pushing further than he has ever gone before.
In other words, this will be very much based on the story of photographer David Bailey and model Jean Shrimpton from the BBC's 'We'll Take Manhattan'.

You know those stories where, for whatever reason, someone's friends/family decide to pay someone else to date their friend? Merlin's friends decide to do that, and they choose to pay Arthur to go out with Merlin.
Except Arthur tells Merlin what they did as soon as he sees him.
The two of them still go out (they could have had feelings for each other before, or just hang out and have the feelings develop) and basically put on a show for Merlin's friends. And when one of said friends eventually lets it slip that they paid Arthur to date Merlin, the couple has already rehearsed the dramatic argument that they will have before finally telling their friends that Merlin knew their plan all along.
Bonus for using the whole "At first it was just the money, but I totally fell for you for reals" cliche during the 'reveal'.
