Summary
John Watson has never been loved. Orphaned a few months after birth, he falls into the hands of relatives that see him as no more than a burden. Then he meets Sherlock Holmes of Bakersfield Hall, and nothing is ever the same.
It's been 15 years since Sherlock Holmes was betrayed by his father and his brother Mycroft, condemning him to a lifetime of misery. Then John Watson becomes his ward's tutor, and Bakersfield Hall no longer feels like a prison.

Throw in a GP with some unfriendly fan-mail, a dead American convict, and a suspicious Sally Donovan and this week is not shaping out like planned. Sherlock's help sure would be good right about now.
