Summary
They were drunk on the heat. Their minds spiraling out of control, their grasp on reality reduced to nothing more but an old memory. Every touch was more intoxicating than the last, every stroke more mindless. Around them the world was burning, and they were burning with it.

Summary
If you're here, odds are it's about "Dumbledore's Army and the Year of Darkness," my version of Neville and the DA's 7th year at Hogwarts. Believe it or not, that was my first fanfic, starting out as a little 4,000 word one-shot called "Dumbledore's Army: Still Recruiting" back in April 08. It exploded, becoming a series over the next several weeks, and is now a novel. Well, actually, it's now two completed novels and one WIP that started posting on 10 March, '09 in what has become referred to by a shockingly high number of people as the DAYDverse. The stories in that universe are not only mine, but other authors' as well, and there is also a lot of meta surrounding it, such as art, videos, and music.
ALL of this, and indeed, your sort of one-stop-shopping for the DAYDverse, including the full master list of all the fics involved in it, may be found here:

Notes
"I don't think you can understand." Colin sat beside him, placing one hand firmly on Neville's knee. "I said something about it earlier, but I don't think you got it. All the fantasies came true when I was eleven. I've seen dragons. I have a wand, a real magic wand, and I cast spells with it. I've eaten dinner with ghosts under real fairies. And even when there's evil, it's grand, terrible evil that's clear and worth fighting, not some knotted mess of social problems when some hooligan shoots someone for drug money. I'm already living in a dream, Neville. I'm not afraid of never waking up."
This is the story of Deathly Hallows from Neville's POV. What happened inside the castle that year.
Most of this was fabulous. Really, really well done. There were a few things that didnt work for me. I really felt they jumped the shark with one plot point. But in the world of fanfic, it was not too bad, and I can overlook it for the sheer genius of most of the rest of this fic. I'm so glad I found this fic - I had been hoping someone had written this story and written it well.

Summary
"You know what? Yesterday--if it was just yesterday, and not, say, six months ago--I was watching my partner kick yet another door in and I was thinking that the only things I had to worry about were Steve getting us killed, Grace's eventual dating, and if I was ever going to find an apartment that wasn't infested with cockroaches, black mold or ghosts of old ladies in funny hats. And now, suddenly, I find out that the entire fucking universe is a giant terrarium project populated with aliens that want to kill us. And you two, apparently, live in another galaxy and don't seem to think there's anything weird about that. Does that sum up the situation here? Or did I miss something?"
