Summary
During the two years following the Joker's escape from Arkham, Gotham city gradually becomes rid of its criminal element in a particularly ghastly way. The appearances of Batman and the Joker become more and more scarce as well to the point of vanishing from the public eye, leaving the city fairly clean. At the same time, Sofia Falcone decides to take over the syndicate, but in the course of gathering resources she accidentally finds out what both Batman and the Joker have been preoccupied with while they were away from the streets. As she videotapes it, another mystery unravels itself and she finds out the true identity of Batman. Blackmailing ensues, attacking Bruce just when he is at his most vulnerable.

Summary
After Bruce dies, Jason Todd, Red Hood, takes over Gotham's underside. In the process he captures Tim Drake, formerly Red Robin, and drives the other Bats out of Gotham. Once Jason has a secure grip on Gotham, he turns his attention to 'modifying' Tim's behavior to create the Tim he always wanted. While Tim isn't sure at first that he wants anything like what's happening to him, he comes to find that it's not as bad as he would have expected belonging to Jason. At least he finally truly belongs somewhere.

John exhaled and closed his eyes and tried to resign himself for the tenth time to the fact that he had to endure it now, that this was out of his authority, and that this would only be over when Sherlock determined it so. He inhaled through his nose and exhaled through his mouth slowly, until he gained control of his breath and his heart, and managed to settle again.

Summary
Summary: I like fennishjournal's mini-review better than I like my own original summary, so here it is: 'John and Sherlock are broken but their jagged edges fit together in a way that is almost painfully right. This is intense and powerful and desperate. There is a scene where John tops the fuck out of Sherlock and, dear God, is it ever intense.'
There's BDSM in the mix, so that needs to go in the headers, but it's not the main focus of the fic. It's a relationship study, in which sex is a significant element but far from being the sole theme. It's about needing something right down to the bottom of your soul, and perhaps eventually getting it.

(Note: fic involves enthusiastic consent of both partners in the context of a pre-arranged BDSM scene with consent play. There is no actual noncon/dubcon/rape in context.
