Summary
Splitoff timeline—the battleship catches up with the meteor on its trip to the next session. John, Jade, the sprites, and the consorts assimilate themselves into everyday life in the troll's former ectobiology laboratory. Faced with what could well be the end of the existence of two races, relationships form and dissolve, tension rises, and in the middle of all this John comes to the disconcerting realization that Karkat is actually kind of cute. Like a puppy dog, or a little kid. Not cute in that way, definitely not. No.

Dave Strider, a rebellious teenager, has grown up learning American Sign Language because of his half deaf brother. When John Egbert, who is mute, moves into the house next to him and starts public school for the first time in his life, it seems like fate that it would bring these two together so that Dave could help him through his school life as well as making friends. They could communicate, they were around the same age, and they were both teenage boys... too bad Dave kind of hates his guts at first. John’s not really too fond of this punk kid trying to be cool, either... or perhaps he is.

Terezi has a lot more teeth to get nibbly with than Karkat and her tongue is way longer and oh lord does she know how to use it. Jade wonders to herself, vaguely, why she never kissed her boyfriends' girlfriend before. That was a really silly oversight.

This isn't how the game was supposed to work.
The Scratch is called a hard reset for a reason. It means starting over from square one with a clean slate. Memories don’t come with the package, or aren’t supposed to, but you guess the game made you some kind of special exception (hahaha hehehe), because you remember. And this should piss him off, and it vaguely does, even now, but they were having such a nice time reminiscing and then he tripped in the dark and she caught him, sure and effortless, and it was like every romcom ever only he was the heroine.
The ensuing makeouts he blames on the alcohol.
Not to say that when she lifted him off the ground by the waist to pin him to a tree and bring to more comfortable kissing height, his nook didn't flood like someone had dynamited a giant fucking dam.
