“I find 'The Joan and Melissa Rivers Story' to be both heartwarming and inspirational,” Dr. Franklin replies.

Horrifying. And amazing. And apparently historically inaccurate in many ways, but I can't help but think that it communicates something really profound about our Founding Fathers. (Namely, that they were ugly. Especially Franklin.)

Notes
One of the best historical fiction stories of Yuletide, period. This piece is based on the HBO mini-series, but didn't have to be. The author's way of evoking the 18th century, and staying true to the personalities, really made this work for me.
