For Kahlan, it is the one place safe from Darken Rahl's prying eyes that she can record her grief, her fury, and her increasingly conflicted feelings. But her growing affection for her husband and her fears for her children lead her to question her duty to help the Seeker fulfill the prophecy, and threaten to tear her heart in two.
For Richard, the Mother Confessor's journal is one of the last links he has to his beloved Confessor.
