Summary
This is a modern retelling of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, where Elizabeth is a graduate returning from the States to Meryton. In the years that she was gone at university, her family is still the rambunctious group as ever, with an American mother and feisty younger sisters. Jane is ever the solid rock of the siblings.
However, once Fitzwilliam Darcy enters the picture, Elizabeth's world changes and she doesn't quite know what to make of the stand-offish businessman and noble. Only his best friend and cousin try to curb her prejudicial pride of the man so that she sees that he isn't quite the monster she makes him to be. At the same time, they do the same of Darcy, concerning Elizabeth's temperament and sometimes embarrassing family.

Summary
A "What if?" divergence from the Pride and Prejudice canon. What if Darcy had adopted a different set of expectations at the first Assembly, where he is introduced to the ladies of Longbourn? What if he was proud but not aloof, and danced with Jane before Bingley did? Yes, I know, a shocking divergence indeed. It is, after all, a work in progress.

Summary
Fitzwilliam Darcy was four and twenty when he married Anne de Bourgh. In doing so, he fulfilled his duty to his family. Life with Anne was comfortable, if not joyous. However, a year into their marriage she died fulfilling what she saw as her duty - bearing him a child.
Fitzwilliam Darcy was eight and twenty when he accompanied his oldest friend to Hertfordshire with his sister and daughter. It was widely known that he had no intention of marrying again. His duty was, after all, already fulfilled. But that firmly held conviction will not hold long against the charms of one Elizabeth Bennet.

Summary
There are people who believe that romantic connections are the province of fate and destiny, the result of an alignment of constellations and conditions that bring two people together. Others tend to discuss falling in love as the product of rational decisions that acknowledge attraction and compatibility. Some people, however, seem to think these two seemingly-opposite perspectives are really just two sides of the same coin. Sometimes, after all, destiny just requires that two people make a single choice.
A modern/AU Pride & Prejudice.

As she threw a retrospective glance over the whole of their acquaintance, so full of contradictions and varieties, she sighed at the perverseness of those feelings which would now have promoted its continuance, and would formerly have rejoiced in its termination. -- Pride and Prejudice, Ch 46

In a world where Regency era bourgeoisie lives on the border of Lothlorien...
Lizzie stood up enthusiastically when she heard the clickety clop of the hooves. "They're here, they're here," she said, excitedly, and all her sisters came to join, Jane calmly settling next to her as her mother cackled out in the yard and her father sighed as he made his way grumpily from his study where he would have clearly preferred to be left in peace.
