    This is mostly a gen story except it does end with Jim and Spock being together. Let’s be honest, the question is not, “Are Jim and Spock in love with each other?” because the answer is obviously yes, but rather, “Are they sleeping together?”

    Takes place after the promotion ceremony at the end of STXI.

    Teaser: "Would you like a lemon?" Pike asks, and waves a king's gesture over the table. There's a dish of lemon wedges there, liberated from the hor d'oeuvres table or maybe ordered specially from the kitchen because he is Admiral Christopher Fucking Pike and you will cut up a lemon for him if he wants you to.

    Jim does not particularly want a lemon but he'll take anything Pike offers. "Thank you," he says and picks out a thin slice, no seeds.

    Obviously the skirt is way too poofy to be practical but, as Winona told Jim while she was scrubbing the engine grease from under her nails this afternoon, she's off-duty and it's a party so practicality can take a hike. Jim agreed to a point, that point being a reasonable concern for safety, and he had the advantage of being totally right so it only took twenty minutes to convince her to swap out her aluminum stilettos for no-slip boots.

She's sitting in the chair at a slight lean the way Pike always does, resting one elbow on the armrest at the same angle and tapping the computer screen with the same finely-shaped hand. Same greying hair, same wrinkles around the eyes, and, when Jim says "Good afternoon, Captain Pike. You're looking a little different today" she looks up at him with the same expression of vague humor and disbelief.
