Summary
Jensen was one of New York's BigLaw rising star lawyers who'd maybe rubbed a few too many judges the wrong way with his showy "creative" courtroom tactics; so when he got caught literally with his pants down receiving "gratitude" in the courtroom stairwell from a client known for bilking his sugar-daddy boyfriends out of fortunes, he was banished to the world of public defense for six months to learn some humility.
Jared Padalecki, gorgeous, gold-digging ex-prostitute trophy husband of celebrity socialite Samantha Ferris-Hartley, has just been arrested for her brutal murder in their 5th Avenue home. The tabloids claim she was the ultimate philanderer and he had an incredible temper.
As Jensen quickly learns, you can't believe everything you read and even the people he thought he knew may not be what he expected by the time he finishes unraveling the mystery. The problem is: Is his attraction for his client getting in the way of accepting the truth?

Summary
Seeing is not the same as believing.Jared was passionate about the work he did with the animal shelter. Between that and living with Sandy, life was satisfactory. Until the cold night that the filthy, homeless man hidden in an oversized hoodie was dumped at the shelter and Jared couldn't just turn him out. Even if the man roared and called himself 'Beast.' Because under the hood, Jared was sure he caught a glimpse of a prince in those green eyes.

The summary is short: "Harry sees Snape in Knockturn Alley and decides to investigate further." And, in fact, Harry does pursue Snape into a seedy Knockturn Alley bar and tries to talk with him, for the first time, man to man, not student to teacher. When the bar closes, they finish their drinks in the rented room upstairs. Ms. Crane can write, as I think you will see, and the conversation in the bar is just as worth reading as the sex that follows.
Ms. Crane's Harry is an alienated, bold yet unsure, 15 year old, haunted by Voldermort through his aching scar, overwhelmed by his own sexual desire and struggling with his homosexuality. Her prose paints a vivid portrait of Harry's sexual need, ambivalence, and feelings of shame and inadequacy. She understands Snape's actions, too, the complicated roots of his desire to "educate" Harry and his self-disgust. Her deft touch with simile and metaphor reveals Harry's first time awkwardness -- and the sexiness in even in an awkward first time.
Here, Snape makes a sexual approach to an aroused Harry. You can see how well characterized both characters are even during the sex scene:
Snape came and sat beside Harry, putting the drinks down on the table by the bed; he looked in Harry's eyes for a moment, as if to check that Harry was paying attention, then, slowly and deliberately, dropped his gaze to Harry's cock and all that chaos and blind demand contracted to a point, shrank down to nothing but six inches of awkward, schoolboy uncontrol, and Harry was completely ashamed.
And then Snape put his hand on it and Harry felt messy and wild, scribbled over Snape's bed like obscene graffiti. He tried to keep still and stared desperately at Snape for a clue about what to do.
As a writer, I have to say that I wish I had written that.
How accurately Ms. Crane captures that virgin's feeling that something utterly life changing is about to happen...
He could feel the space opening around him, feel the time passing, pulling him forwards and towards the unimaginable time *after*, when - and for the rest of his life - he would have fucked Snape. When he would have become whatever that would make him.
I'm a sucker for a line like this, succinctly revealing Harry's ambivalence:
*No,* said Harry, but he didn't say it aloud, so it wasn't Snape's fault.
Written Pre-OotP, so not only does it contain no spoilers, it goes AU after GoF. But a lot of stories do now days.

I didn't want to read this story. The pairing line read "Unnamed/Whore. Makes more sense if you read it." Which, it turns out, is true. But I'm not often in the mood for guessing-game or I-fooled-you fics. Still, this story kept coming up on rec list after rec list. At some point, I had to give in and read it.
And I'm very happy I did. It being such a short fic, there isn't a summary I could give that wouldn't give too much away and hardly any quote that would not give away information that would be better read in the story, but here are the first paragraphs...
There are some feelings what there aren't no words for.
Such as the feeling a man gets when he's stood up at the bowsprit, pissing into nothing.
Piss on a tree or a wall and it feels right, steady. Piss off a bridge in the dark, or off the side of a ship, and it makes you feel giddy-like, half-finished. I reckon you needs to hear yourself pissing. Don't feel right otherwise.
See? I love the earthy truth of descriptions. It makes the end of the story all the more blistering...
Written for time challenge on the Pirates500 LJ community, it is obviously short, 500 words or under. That's not a big time and energy commitment for a reader. If you've seen the film, you should at least give this a try.
(However, I wouldn't recommend this story for anyone who has not seen the film, which imparts the knowledge which makes this story more than just a bunch of pretty, angsty words.)
