Miles Edgeworth was there for him when the entire world wasn’t (or the entire class, at least). Miles Edgeworth, who had no inkling of who this accused boy even was, defended him against a mob of infuriated and aggressive 4th graders. Miles Edgeworth had trusted his word alone, something even Larry didn’t really do, even at the best of times....Miles was the one who Phoenix told his secrets to, the only one Phoenix would ever invite round for dinner, the one who would say “Jump!” and Phoenix would eagerly ask “How High?”...It’s at that point, Phoenix Wright realises that Maya Fey might not be such a stupid teenager after all."
Basically, Phoenix realises that he kind of loves Miles Edgeworth. So why not tell him? The consequences couldn't be that dire. You never know what could happen...
