Derek knows he’s right. He knows that he probably should have done what Stiles had said and waited before charging in, and he hates that Stiles is right, is usually right, because he is the damn Alpha. He’s not supposed to cater to people. He’s the leader damn it, and if he wants to run in to save the day, he fucking can. He should be allowed.
And Stiles always does this. He always yells at Derek, pointing out the things he did wrong, what he should have done, what an idiot he was being because he didn’t do this, or didn’t listen to that. And quite frankly Derek’s fucking tired of it because the kid never shuts up. Ever. Not even when things are perfectly normal and their lives aren’t in danger. Derek is pretty fucking sure Stiles is incapable of being silent for more than 5 minutes.
Stiles proves him wrong.

Out of the corner of his eye, Stiles sees Erica rounding them, heels clicking on the floor. She flicks a strand of hair over her shoulder, gun in hand.
“It’s late,” she drawls. “I’m tired. Let’s just cut the crap, shall we. Hand him over, Hale, he belongs to the NSA.”
That’s when Derek trains his gun on Stiles, and Erica points hers at Derek.
“The CIA gets him first,” he answers. Erica moves to step closer. “One step closer, and I’ll shoot him.”
“What?” Stiles squeaks, angry at how small he sounds. He’s still breathing hard, panic spilling over every inch of his body, making him shake. He’s freaking out while his date is threatening to shoot him. This wasn’t how he imagined the night ending. This wasn’t how he imagined he’d die.
“You shoot him, I shoot you. I’ll just leave your bodies here and go grab a late night snack. I’m thinking about pancakes, I haven’t had them in way too long,” Erica ponders, seemingly completely unaffected by what’s happening.

Derek looked at the boy and turned to the road, and then turned to look at the boy again, he wanted to see the Stiles´ face to ensure that what he had said was true, after all, Stiles said nothing clear in his monologue that he could confirm with his super hearing, as usual.

And Stiles leaves for 10 years right after graduation but comes back with children but suffering from the lost of his wife and his former pack.
