After dying in the Shrieking Shack, Severus Snape is sent back so that he can learn to be a functional human being. In spite of the strides he appears to make, he and his very own “Clarence” know that it’s mostly window-dressing.
Hermione Granger doesn’t regret the choices she made during the war, but that doesn’t stop her seeking some sort of absolution for some of the consequences. If she could let go of her guilt, she might learn to believe she’s got abilities beyond being a swot.

At the end of First Year, Hermione starts researching a way to boost Harry's power. During Second Year, she starts reconstructing an ancient ritual. In Third Year, she convinces Harry and Ron to go along with it, and Snape, surprisingly, helps them. The effects of their actions ripple throughout the Wizarding World, deposing the Ministry, and reinstating the Common Court and the King's Court. Much politics ensue. By the end of Fourth Year, the three of them are rising stars in a cosmic battle. The return of Voldemort sparks them to raise their own army of both contemporaries and elders, in a dramatic Fifth Year. By Sixth Year, Hermione rides a llama to each battle, and they mostly control the Wizarding World. And finally in Seventh Year, they defeat Voldemort, surprisingly swiftly, and are left with the aftermath of calling in all Magical Debts owed to them.
This is the story of how they did it.
