Derek wakes up to the sound of the Jeep pulling into the parking lot of his building and it’s nice, for a moment, a really nice thing to wake up to and he turns over to bury his smile in the other pillow, the one that still, always, smells just a bit like Stiles. Then the frantic beat of Stiles’ heart registers and he’s out of the bed and halfway down the stairs before he remembers.
When he does, he pauses, sags against the railing to breathe for a second, to palm his face and scratch his stubble and wake his fucking brain up.
It’s Mother’s Day.
Coffee first, he decides. Chances are, he’s going to need it.
