Summary
Britain, 1009 AD. Magical capabilities are fading from knowledge and suffering from persecution. Godric Gryffindor and Salazar Slytherin form an unlikely friendship, born of mutual respect and magical talent. Together they meet a masterful young witch, Helga Hufflepuff, who has devoted her time and talents to caring for magical orphans and disowned children. Inspired by her orphanage, they recruit Helga's childhood friend, the charming Rowena Ravenclaw, and together build Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
The Four grow to be as close as kin...and closer still, in some cases. They are the rock upon which the school is founded. But the world around them is a tumultuous one, riddled with violence and political instability. The Four dedicate their lives to protecting their school and empowering their students. They endure trials and passions, deep friendships and deeper hurts, and a betrayal that threatens to dissemble the very foundations of Hogwarts.
