Emissary from Another World: The collected diaries of Dr. Gaius Baltar by hw_campbell_jnr

Summary
These are, or were intended to be when I wrote them in 2009, Gaius' diaries written after the end of the series, on New Earth. He lives with Caprica, they farm and make babies.
What I intended was, using Gaius, to make the argument that there's no separating the narrative "resolution" of the Oedipus Complex, and Colonization. And despite BSG presenting those things as noble or at least redemptive, I disagree that they are, and consider the philosophy that sustains colonization to be implicitly tied to particular psychologies and narratives.
I remain unsure as to whether I actually wrote about that disagreement or just reproduced the thing I wanted to examine. I think both, to be perfectly frank.
But in short: Life on Earth suggests ethics are more complicated than morals, even at the Baltar homestead. The Other is Categorized and Othered. Men act, women appear. Visual pleasure in narrative fanfiction both influenced and problematized by psychological repression. Gaius repeatedly misses the Nova Express. Has Oedipal issues. Drinks. Spoilers: Numerous
