What do you do when your honorary brother in arms is doomed to suffer another year stuck in skirts?
Well, if you're Achilles, you take the bullet for him.
What do you do when you find yourself falling in love with the cute (most likely straight) new guy?
Well, if you're Achilles, you find yourself utterly compromised (in the most agreeable way).
Now: What do you do when your archnemesis- and, no, just because you're in high school that doesn't mean that you're too young to have one thank you very much- finds out the truth about you?
Well, if you're Achilles, you break his nose (in the least agreeable way possible).

“He has no match in battle,” Apollo said seriously, black eyes burning through Patroclus with their knowledge of deeper things than Patroclus could ever know. “So I shall give him a match.”

In an alternate telling, Patroclus is a farmboy drafted into the side of Troy and barely managing to survive from battle to battle, and Achilles is the best of the Greeks. After interference by the God Apollo, Patroclus becomes the Trojans' best hope and Achilles' greatest labor. Canon Divergent AU.

He tries, as he’s lying in bed, to form some kind of understanding, but he just ends up thinking about Patroclus’ hair, and his lips, and the way his fingers looked as he played the guitar, elegant and deft and so, so clever.

“Don’t you see?!” Cassandra demands, grabbing Nestor by the shoulders and shaking him. Patroclus watches the show with mild interest. “There are cool kids and there are losers, there are jocks and rich kids and geeks and goths and stoners and everything in between, and what we’re about to enter is a swirling vortex of horror wherein they all intermix.”

Or, in which Patroclus pines after Achilles, Achilles pines after Patroclus, Briseis plays matchmaker, Odysseus has bad ideas, Diomedes has worse ones, Agamemnon sucks, Menelaus can't hold down a girlfriend, and the entire school goes to war.

"His mother has named him Abaddon."

Anger flashed once more in his eyes.

"What mother would be cruel enough to name him such a thing?"

    "Helen of Troy."

That was all that needed to be said and he nodded as of confirming something.

"I shall take the child and will raise him as my own son. This I promise to the Gods."

Helen of Troy, viciously taken by Deiphobus, brother of Paris, to be his wife, births a babe of the Trojan lineage and sends him away to be raised by another. Enraged by Paris's old betrayal, Hera plans to destroy the child before it can take it's throne as the last heir of Priam. Only Hades, God of the Underworld stands in her way, and finds himself getting closer to child than he had ever thought possible.

Theodore Lowsely, a historian and archaeologist, discovers a scroll most mysterious that leads him into the foray of a battle between two gods while discovering a secret about himself along the way.

Connected by time and pulled together by fate, these two stories will shake the very foundation of Olympus.

    Summary

“Ah, what to ask,” he says, tapping his chin, looking thoughtful and downright mischievous. Theatrically, he holds up his finger as though he’s thought of something, even though Achilles can tell he knew exactly what he was going to ask before the bottle had even landed on him. “Never have I ever been in love.”
Penelope drinks, adding to Achilles’ confusion, and then so does Patroclus.
    So does Patroclus.
Achilles literally does a double take. His mouth falls open.

Cass has a gift and a curse. She knows that things will happen before they do, and sometimes she'll get glimpses of the future or the past, but she doesn't tell anyone because they'll think she's crazy.

She's okay with it at first, resigned at best, but then, she has the vision that ends all visions, a vision that predicts the death of her entire family.

Quickly, she realizes that this isn't the first time that this has happened, but this time is different. This time, she won't fail. She won't let herself fail.

Now, if only the gods would agree.

    This and this and this...

    ---

Patroclus is skinny, defenseless, and small, with a father who drinks too much and loves too little and a mother who can't feel anything. He's a quiet sophomore just waiting for a hero to save him from the broken shell of what used to be his home.
When he meets Achilles, he believes everything is going to be okay. And everything is -- until it isn't.
