Summary
snippets from a verse where magic is legal (Uther accepted that Ygraine died of childbirth, not magic shenanigans) and Merlin's a girl. Grew up in Camelot, and given Balinor's status at court, was Morgana's playmate, then became her lady-in-waiting. And due to a really regrettable incident where she saved Arthur's life, is now the prat's bodyguard.
They're not in any particular order and I don't have a coherent plot yet, so... snippets. I'll mark the ones that get a bit more plot-ish.

According to legend, Arthur fell for Guinevere at first sight and so it will go with this fic. This is a somewhat prequel to Desperate Measures that will reveal the origins of an arrogant prince and a shy handmaiden who will one day become the once and futures.
