Mammon has three things on his mind: Falling grades (they are all Bel's fault, all of them), kidnapees who are being suspiciously compliant (because he knows that look, and that look happens to be Fran's trouble look), and his boss (becuase she hasn't been doing so well, and even if he doesn't want to be, he can't help but be concerned.)
Fran has one thing on his mind: Getting away from all these losers and back to . . . whatever it is he has to go back to. (And gettings some new hats while he's at it.)
It's just too bad life doesn't have any of those things on it's mind, except for maybe the hats.
