Now, it came to be that the witch had a princess as her captive, a beautiful, helpless thing with gold hair and eyes as green as clover. Every day, the princess would sit at the window of the witch’s hut and weep, and there the wolf saw her and within him rose a powerful lust.
He wished, as he had never wished before, to devour the princess’ flesh and crunch her bones between his teeth.

Summary
Originally for a kinkmeme prompt that asked for an AU of Ursula LeGuin’s story The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas, in which a prosperous city flourishes because of the abuse of one child. Inhabitants of the city are shown the horrifically imprisoned child when they come of age, and they make the choice to stay, knowing what their happiness and prosperity is founded upon, or they walk away and leave the city and its secret behind. The prompter asked for Charles to be the child, and for Erik to take him away. Set some time after this occurs, and reconfigured for the X-Men Fairy Tales challenge on LJ, in that it contains significant elements of the myth in which a character meets a traveller or travellers on the road, who later turn out to be angels or other supernatural beings.

“Curious child.” The woman's voice was sticky with the black phlegm of her illness, but also with affection for her only child. Her land was lucky to have such an heir. “Very well. I shall sing you the song of the Djinn.”
