This one looks at why I find it plausible that Imaoka was written as gay, with a huge crush on Hiratsuka, and the various reasons this would have needed to remain subtextual in a sports/delinquent-themed manga being published at the very beginning of the 21st century.

This is a major paper from my Introduction to Fiction course, a 200-level college English/literature course, that received a very high grade. The purpose of this essay is to provide a social criticism of The House on Mango Street in how the historical context of 1980s' Chicago and immigration, Chicano/a and machismo/marianismo cultural expectations, and socioeconomics contribute to identity formation in Esperanza.

Okay, so I may have a problem. the last (Only) thing I wrote was me trying to explain fic to a few of my friends. I Was bored and got to thinking that I've read a lot of articles mentioning fanfic, but they always focus on the negative aspects of it; the weird, disturbing, WTF stories that exist at the edge of sanity. I actually, usually prefer fanfic over most actual shows. So, this is basically me, once again, trying to explain fanfiction to people who, in all likely hood don't really care. It's kinda written like a 5 reasons article like on many sites that I've read. Plus, it's a way to put a lot of links to my favorite stories.

At this point, more than 100 posts in, I do think it only fair to rewrite this intro. This is a whopping big heap of meta posts, dealing primarily with *Sherlock*, though heaven knows a lot of other literature and art wanders through. The writing quality and style varies from fairly good pseudo-academic to outright fangirl squee. If it's worth reading at all, it's worth reading because it's fun watching someone who really does care how art works go hunting for the engines that drive the show, and to guess at the hidden and not-so-hidden details that may shape the future of the show.

    Original intro below:

Of all these little meta digressions, this is more truly an essay and piece of lit-crit. I had a chunk of last night and this morning to think about the structure and nature of how a story is told, and what your perception of the story does to your choices of through-lines. This is a lit-crit essay focusing on *Sherlock*, and using Dorothy Sayers and Agatha Christie as paradigmatic examples of two different approaches to the development of narrative spines and through-lines. Meta. Essay. Lit-crit. Analysis. Dry. Somewhat academic. Consider yourselves thoroughly warned. My inner honor student shineth forth.

    **Now With Pictures!
**And links, (Because I Can't seem to leave this alone.)

Okay, so, this isn't really a fic, exactly. Basically, it's me (someone who's slightly, kinda, maybe, okay, definitely way too much of an obsessed fangirl) trying to explain fanfic to someone who, in all likelihood, has no clue what any of it means. I have a few friends that I mentioned fics to and they seemed curious, so I thought I'd copy some of my faves for them. Then I tried to think about just getting over 300 random stories in a file and having no clue what any of it was and that they may not be familiar with some of my favorite fandoms. Alright, so I thought "okay, I'll just write a quick intro, explain a few terms, go over some of the characters, terms, ex. page or two, fine." Yeah, over 3,000 words and like five times as many pages as intended later, this is what I ended up with. So... It... umm... kinda got away from me.. but I kinda wanted to post it , so, here it is, whatever it is.

Sybok, Amanda, Spock, Perrin... Little is known about Sarek's family life, but do know he had a life before he met Amanda and made another life for himself after she passed. A lot of fans of the Sarek and Amanda pairing hate Sybok and Perrin, and I never really understood why.

I personally find the fandom to be a judgement free zone and yet it's easier finding a needle in a haystack then it is finding a fic that portray's John Winchester as a Good Person...I hope that trend changes because it is so played out...12 years later you still see John as ''bad guy" if this does not change your persective of John nothing will.
