Merlin has been head over heels for his boss, a man he's never actually spoken to. But when their first meeting goes worse than even the most mortifying nightmares he could have dreamt of- courtesy of Merlin's snark and Arthur's pomposity- the only way to avoid losing his job is to be involved in the publishing of a Gay Romance Novel. But being "involved" turned out to be a much vaguer term than Merlin would have liked. If Merlin hears the phrase, "Be careful what you wish for," one more time- he's going to scream.

Summary
It was as if Merlin had been holding his breath since that day he bid Arthur goodbye. Bound by loyalty, weighed down by grief and isolated by guilt he waited alone for his king as the years shuffled on. Merlin began to lose faith in the dream he had fought so hard for, as well as hope in seeing his beloved friend again. But as the 21st century dawned, activism for those with magic burst into life, and finally he had a purpose beyond waiting.
The year is 2020. People with magic - labelled Arcanes - have finally been legally recognized and permitted to practice in the UK. But prejudice is strong, and rumours of Arcane terrorist groups threaten to criminalize sorcery once more. Merlin must help protect his kind and ward off those that would hurt their cause.
But he won't have to fight alone, as the time for waiting is over. The king is returning, and he's not the only one.

Camelot is cursed by an evil Sorceress. Arthur discovers what splendid men his knights are, how adorable Merlin is and exactly what sort of books one can order from obscure vendors in Cenred's kingdom.
Arthur wished the latest sorceress had given him a pair of donkey's ears, or made everyone's hair fall out. Camelot, its long-suffering inhabitants and its King, were used to such magical mishaps. They could deal with it. Cursing Merlin with walking, talking ejaculations with a duty to report to Arthur each time Merlin decided to have a wank was irritating on a previously unknown scale. It was out of the ordinary, even for Camelot.

Dragons are feared and mistrusted throughout Albion, and there are very few of them left in Camelot, for Uther’s long campaign against magic also included hunting down all the dragons in the wild. Now, Camelot is recovering from the invasion of Cenred and Morgause's army. Prince Arthur is the one in charge, and Merlin finds out that his secret regular visits to the covert haven't been very secret at all. There's a great deal of manly bonding with the Knights, inquisitive dragons being inquisitive, and a record-breaking number of near-death experiences for Merlin.
