Summary
“I said you couldn't just drop me off at my house and leave like we've shared a cab," Amy says, and the Doctor whirls around to face her, tears shining with tears.
Amy had the truth of the Doctor spun out in that labyrinth, and in a moment, with her faith splintering beneath her shaking limbs, she questioned him. But now, she sees him plain. She sees the monster and the god and the angel sitting side by side, shaking hands, bound by ropes of blood and sinew. The Doctor carries the weight of dead planets on his shoulders, yet the things she said to him after the star whale ring just as true. All that pain and misery and loneliness, and it just made him kind.
Amy is loved by two men. One that is so devoted to her that he would wait two thousand years in order to hear her draw breath, a sleeping princess emerged from her casket, while the other loves her so much that he is willing to let her go if it meant keeping her safe.
The ultimate question, then: safety or danger? Grounded on the earth or soaring among the stars? Sleeping Beauty or Wendy?
It is time for Amy's Choice.
“You saved Rory and I by breaking yourself,” Amy says, “Now let me save you.”
(It never was a question, was it?)

Summary
The Doctor knows that he is more myth than man in many of the places he has visited. But recently, since the Time War, his companions have been taking on a mythic quality in themselves.
The Doctor should not be surprised by Amy Pond’s divinity. She is not the first to remake the universe for him.
But she is the first to create him. To birth him, this version of him, to call him through time and space, to make him in her image, in her dreams.
The Doctor cannot tell where he and everything he has ever been ends and where Amy Pond begins. Is there even a way to tell? Is there any part of him that is not hers? Is there any part of him that she hasn’t touched?
Amy Pond, in her impossibility, demanded that he return. She refused to wait any longer. She wrenched him into existence, into memory, required him to prove her and her faith right. She made him into evidence. She made him into acolyte, into devotee, by proving her own devotion to him.
And here comes Amy, skipping out of the community center and out into the garden. “C’mon, Doctor,” Amy says, eyes glittering, bright as a god, “Help the bride run away one more time.”

Summary
The story is always about making Amy make a choice. A choice to stay, or a choice to run. A choice to follow or a choice to lead. A choice to live, or a choice to die.
But there was one thing that Amy Pond never got to choose- or maybe she has just chosen it so many times for so long that she has convinced herself that it was never a choice in the first place. One thing that is so entwined with her very being that she cannot remember being capable of ever making another decision.
Amy is familiar with fairytales. She is familiar with bargains. She is familiar with the choices you have to make because you believe in something so much that you cannot imagine anything else.
Amy Pond is capable of soul-crushing devotion. Incredible, unflinching, strident, heartbreaking, unceasing faith.
What is two thousand years compared to a little girl’s fairytales? What is two hundred years of lies compared to a grown woman’s decisions?
The crack erases Rory Williams from history, from memory, but Amy does not forget him. She couldn’t. She isn’t capable of it.
(Amy doesn't forget Rory's death post-Cold-Blood, but the Doctor does. Now she gets to decide what the truth becomes.)

Summary
Amy kisses him because she is afraid. She kisses him because she doesn’t know if she wants to get married. She doesn’t know if she can bear to wear a white dress that isn’t soiled by the stomach acid of a Star Whale.
She kisses him because she doesn’t know what she wants, but knows that she wants him. She wants the stars and the TARDIS and the winds of space in her hair.
Amy Pond’s dated Rory Williams for two years, but all she sees is the boy who dressed up as the Raggedy Doctor because she told him to. The boy who was so eager to catch her eye that he turned himself inside out for her.
But the Doctor? This man who would have killed a Star Whale to stop a country from dying, the man who would have killed himself, the man who grabbed the hand of a child, of a police officer, of a kissogram and told her to run? She sees everything and more with him.
Yet Amy stops kissing the Doctor when she finds him scrambling back under her red-painted nails, eyes wet with confusion and some sharp thread of terror. “Amy,” he gasps, “Stop.”
And Amy, Amy who has had men look at her when she doesn’t want them to, Amy who knows what it’s like to be loved by someone you can't reciprocate the feelings of, Amy stops.

Summary
The Doctor tries to take off at Demon’s Run and Amy Pond’s hand shoots out, catching him. There are tear tracks on her cheeks and her body is abject, a monster to herself.
“You don’t get to leave me,” Amy snaps, eyes burning, the front of the clothes that are not hers covered in the Flesh that her body was made of, that her daughter was made of. The Doctor freezes under her gaze just as he did when she told him that they were going to Space, 1969, and that he had to trust her. Well, she’s tired of playing games. She’s tired of being played with. “You don’t get to do this again. You left me waiting for fourteen years. You kept the truth from me. I had a parasite inserted into me and I made nice, I cared enough about my daughter, but now she is gone and I am hollowed out and I am tired of nursery rhymes. I am tired of waiting. You are not leaving me.”
Amelia Pond’s faith is not a sweet thing. It is an ugly thing. It was born out of twelve years of trips to psychiatrists and a Doctor who failed her and then proved her right in the end. A best friend who lied to her, over and over again, and yet she believes in him, because how could she not?
(Amy refuses to let anyone take away her choice again.)

Summary
You are Amy Pond and you are kind and you have faith until that faith is forcefully broken to save your life. You become Lucy Pevensie, cast out of your kingdom by the only god you have ever believed in, so you choose to build your own kingdom, to make a life out of the wreckage that he left behind.
But that is not enough. It will never be enough. You are not allowed to leave this story. You are not allowed to grow up in a way that matters, because every time you try to choose, every time that you try to build a life of your own, you are dragged back into this story.
You are Amy Pond and this is a horror story, a tragedy, because you were never allowed to make a choice unless that choice is to die. You are not allowed to choose unless it is to kill yourself. You die on Appalappachia. You die in Manhattan. Any time you get to make a decision, death is there, hand outstretched, ready to walk you off the stage.
You are Amy Pond and you are a ghost haunting other people's stories.
You are Amy Pond and you died before you were born.
(Amy Pond and being trapped within the narrative: aka, the question of narrative framing and the consequences of faith.)

Summary
“You two need to get the portal back open,” Amy instructs, already halfway out the door. “The Doctor said that pocket universe was collapsing- we have to get her out of there.”
“Yes, ma’am,” Clara says, already turning to the contraption and getting it powered up again.
“What about you?” Rory asks.
Amy tosses a grin over her shoulders. “I’m gonna pilot the TARDIS through the portal and bring the Doctor back myself.”
Once out the door, Amy runs full-tilt for the TARDIS, but her key sticks in the lock, and Amy can't deal with this right now. The TARDIS can't be temperamental when the Doctor has minutes left.
So Amy bangs against the door with the flat of her palm. “C’mon, let me in, I can fly you, I know how to do it now, you can trust me, just open your doors and we can go save the Doctor-”
“Hello, Amelia Pond,” comes a familiar voice that cannot possibly exist at a manor house in the 1970s, not now, not ever again and Amy spins around to find-
Amy can’t help it. For a moment, her words fail her. For a long, terrible moment, all she can do is stare at the ghost standing in front of her.
(In which there are three time-travelling ghosts haunting the story, but only one is dead.)

Summary
“You are the Doctor,” Rory snaps, stepping right up to the Doctor, eyes flint. “You picked that name because it was a promise. A promise to heal. A promise to save. And this is my promise. My choice. So let me make it.”
“Why couldn’t you just be a little more selfish?” the Doctor asks.
Rory gives the Doctor a small, sympathetic smile. “You wouldn’t love me otherwise, would you?”
Pride and frustration war in the Doctor's chest. He just has to pick the selfless ones, doesn't he?
Rory curls a hand around the Doctor's cheek, achingly tender. “You're not going to stop me."
The Doctor sighs. “No, I'm not. Go out there, Rory Pond, be a hero. See if I care.”
Rory's smile is a ruinous thing. “You care. You care too much, Doctor.”
Rory steps off the TARDIS, mask over his mouth, going to battle the only way Rory Pond can: not with a gun or a sword, but with a medkit and a kind heart.
The Doctor almost convinces himself that this will pass. That Rory will be safe. (It’s this love thing that makes the Doctor foolish. That makes him believe in impossibility.)
But then Amy screams. She screams, and the Doctor's hearts stop.
(A deadly virus, a time lock, and an impossible choice.)

Summary
It is a thing that the Doctor does. Sacrifice himself for those he loves. Take on absolutely physics-defying, universe-shattering powers and forces so that they will live and he will die.
This time, though, there is no regeneration. There is no way back.
There is only a goodbye, a fairytale whispered in the ear of a girl who will spend the next dozen years screaming at therapists and hoping beyond hope and believing in the impossible.
There is only a farewell, a bedtime story told to a boy with a heart too big for his chest, who falls for a mad girl and a mad man, who is hesitant and quiet but far braver than anyone gives him credit for.
---
There’s this story, about a storyteller bringing his wife back from the dead. He failed, of course, couldn’t stop himself from looking back at her, and thus doomed them both to tragedy and a life apart.
Rory and Amy had to look back in order to bring the past forward. They had to break the rules, destroy the underworld, in order to save the one they loved.
And damn, but they did it. They looked back with enough stubbornness and grit to bend the laws of the universe.
(Amy and Rory bring back the man they love.)

These area all little vignettes I wrote in the mid 20-teens that are all pretty, purple prose-ey and mostly function as windows into the inner monologue of the characters for whom they are written. Some are melancholy, some are brighter, but they're all honest.
