Summary
A "beautiful princess" has been sacrificed to a dragon to save the kingdom and it's up to Heero to save "her". Relena doesn't like it. Neither does the "beautiful princess". Heero doesn't care for the idea either, but, well, he did say "mission accepted". (Note: in canon, the G-Boys are 15, hence the underage warning. They do not act underage in the fic, more like frat-boys.) There are a still GW yaoi tropes to be mocked, but after 100k words I had to give up. The Horde is relentless. Spoilers: None for GW, very few for Pretty Woman.This fic was written in response to Nova Una's challenge to the 1x2ML to write Gundam Wing, Pretty Woman style, with Heero as the prostitute and Duo the businessman who makes his acquaintance.
I'm not sure about the title, but I thought it a damn sight better than "Pretty Heero."Edulcoration - noun form of the verb edulcorate, meaning to free from harshness (as of attitude) or to soften.

I passed this story over many times, because I was uninterested in AUs in general and Pretty Woman in particular. But when I finally succumbed, right away the depth of characterization and the competence of the writing won me over. Duo and Wufei are business partners whose specialty is buying up desperate businesses and gutting them for profit. While they're in Los Angeles courting the Peacecrafts to buy their business, Duo takes a joyride in WuFei's expensive car, and meets Heero, a prostitute, when he asks for directions back to his hotel. He decides to take Heero back with him, and things progress from there. It plays out over time as a very sweet courtship, with wonderfully complex back stories for the characters' AU histories, and a convincingly clever resolution of the corporate plotting.

Yes, it's the old "Lucius and Harry have to no choice but to have sex in order save themselves" plot. In Hijja's hands, this chestnut works well, mainly because she takes the time to set the sex in a broader, if far from overly articulated, narrative.
Hijja seems to be taking a very Amanuensis-like approach in content and style. With slightly less non-con than a typical Amanuensis story, it still dances around issues of power and consent in a way Amanuensis's fans would appreciate.
It isn't without its flaws, of course. Harry seems to become turned on in the presence of Dementors just a little too easily for my taste. There is a certain amount of unnecessary repetition in the descriptions. Lucius snarls and smirks too much.
But these are small complaints and many of the sexual descriptions, particularly as the sex reaches its climax, are excellent. So, too, is the care with which the scenario for the sex is, not only set up, but concluded. There is a fair amount of elegant plot here for a PWP.
