The guy spat and turned the faucet on. "Take the money. You said you lived in Queens last night? Who the hell lives in Queens."
The fifty seemed gritty in his fingers, but he put it in the back pocket of his ridiculously tight jeans, anyway. That was, like, a five-hour shift at the coffee shop where he worked, Common Grounds, with tips. "And don't call me 'dude,'" the guy continued, turning off the faucet. "I'm not your college bro. It's Derek."

No one notices when Stiles stops caring about whether he lives or dies. He's not suicidal, per se, but he also wouldn't mind being dead. It's completely unhealthy and self destructive to think this way, he knows, but it's not like he could stop the thoughts from coming. They're just there. Thoughts of, 'I wouldn't mind not waking up tomorrow, maybe I'll get hit by a car on the way home, if I was dead I wouldn't have to deal with this.'

“‘Unleash the Derek’?” Derek asks, dubiously.
“Yeah,” Stiles nods, gazing out the window again. “You know, the thing where you dump your bad mood on others, pour your suffocating attitude over everyone around you, twist everything that is said to you into some sort of—insult or whatever. It’s what I used to call it back in high school.”
“Sometimes I get the feeling you were dropped on your head an awful lot as a child,” Derek says appraisingly, eyebrows furrowed.

“I woke up you up at two in the morning,” Derek said, more slowly. “I – you know, food?”
“Oh.” Stiles shook his head. “I have to get up at five and I stayed up stupid late as it is. I’m gonna be a mess tomorrow already and–”
“Nobody gives a fuck, Romeo,” somebody shouted from outside and Stiles jerked so hard he cracked his head on Derek’s windowsill.

Meanwhile, there's a new monster in B-Hills, an old friend of the Stilinski family is back in town, and Derek is becoming a responsible adult. No, really.
General spoilers for the show/characters post-s2. I've been trying to avoid spoilers for s3, but that's really hard so some have filtered into this story - this is set about a year after 2x12, so the end of their Junior year of high school. Stiles is still underage (17).
