At points, you almost gave in and admitted that it would probably be a better idea if you had a better guide - something not as archaic as your current methods. But the truth is the both of you persevered, and even when you got lost, with nothing but the neverending road stretching ahead and behind you, there were moments of solace to be had, times where the bigger plan would be swept under the rug because it was just the two of you after all.

Karkat Vantas is a rebellious eighteen-year-old who, having successfully escaped his father's overbearing command, has decided to join the Circus. After jumping onto the train belonging to the Strider Company travelling circus, he forms a rather complicated relationship with a boy named Dave, the eventual heir of the company. Little do they know that they're both in for a wild adventure. (Takes place in a freaky, awkward combination of Great Depression era and modern era resulting from a failed and scrapped attempt to make this story steampunk.) Contains some mild sex scenes, but I don't think they actually qualify for a "Mature" rating...

John was still lying on the floor. He could see his older sister go pale out of the corner of his eye, his ears perked up but the TV was not loud enough to make out what it was about. Something about a lot of car crashes? Did he hear the word 'Infection'? He made out words like 'mass panic' and 'trolls attacking'. It was like a whirl of voices that left him feeling a little agitated. He rubbed his head one last time before he sat up and turned to face the TV and the first pictures of what would change his whole life burned into his retina.
